The Patricia A. Porter Fellowship In Arts Management
The Patricia A. Porter Fellowship in Arts Management honors the exemplary vision and leadership of Pat Porter in her tireless efforts to enrich the lives of all North Texans by nurturing lasting, meaningful relationships between the region's corporate world and its constellation of arts and cultural organizations.
The fellowship program was established by the Leadership Arts Alumni Association of North Texas Business for Culture and the Arts (NTBCA) to provide financial support for emerging professionals pursuing a graduate education in arts management. The fund is managed by Communities Foundation of Texas.
OUR FIRST WINNER: DANIELLE GEORGIOU
On May 13, 2009 the Patricia A. Porter Fellowship in Arts Management was enthusiastically awarded to its first deserving recipient: Ms. Danielle Georgiou. Amongst a slew of well-qualified finalists, Danielle’s esteemed scholastic accomplishments and obvious passion for performing arts (dance) helped her rise to the top. From a ballerina at the age of 2, to modern dance in her teens, and onto her current professional role with Muscle Memory Dance Theatre, Danielle has continuously pushed herself to not only learn more but do more. ELIGIBILITY
This fellowship is dedicated to those graduate students who are currently studying arts management at a college or university in North Texas.
- The applicant must be a degree-seeking student enrolled for at least 6 credit hours in a graduate program studying arts management in a university located in North Texas (defined here as a county belonging to the North Central Texas Council of Governments: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Franklin, Erath, Hood, Hunt, Grayson, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Red River, Rockwell, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise).
- Applicant must submit a resume or curriculum vitae, and official copies of transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
- Applicant must have two letters of reference from either school administrators or faculty, or from applicable work-related experience
- Applicant must demonstrate commitment to remain in North Texas and enter a career in arts management
AWARD
The dollar amount of the scholarship awarded will vary between $2,000 - $6,000.
